GIOS Biostructures was founded in Leuven in 2025 by Evgenii Osipov and Giel Stalmans as a structural biology CRO. We provide end-to-end services from protein expression to purification, crystallisation, structure determination, advanced X-ray-based compound screening and innovative de novo protein design for cutting-edge drug discovery. Our automated pipeline serves the diverse needs of pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms and academic laboratories involved in drug discovery, biological research and protein engineering.

Giel Stalmans, PhD
Co-Founder
Molecular biology
Giel received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from KU Leuven in 2025. He is an experienced molecular biologist and protein designer. Giel is responsible for protein design, purification, and structure solution.
Evgenii Osipov, PhD
Co-Founder
Structural biology
Evgenii received his PhD in Structural Biochemistry from the Institute of Biochemistry in Moscow in 2017. He is experienced in structural biology, AI protein design, and programming. Evgenii supports the IT infrastructure, crystallography, and protein design systems.
