Membrane proteins are among the most valuable drug targets in the pharmaceutical industry, with more than 60% of approved drugs acting on membrane-embedded proteins. Yet their intrinsic instability outside the native membrane environment remains a fundamental challenge, significantly complicating drug discovery and development efforts.

To address this challenge, GIOS Biostructures has developed a proprietary technology, the MESO-platform, which stabilizes essential membrane proteins into a next-generation nanodisc, called MESOdisc. The MESO-platform enables streamlined and improved workflows for the development of therapeutic antibodies, peptides and small-molecule drugs targeting membrane proteins.

The MESO-platform™ allows membrane proteins to be expressed and studied without incorporation into the cell membrane. This approach produces stable, soluble MESOdiscs™, facilitating drug target discovery and drug development. A major advantage is the ability to lock proteins in a specific conformational state while maintaining their native structure.
